Eid

Eid

So I’ve had quite the hiatus from writing since little dude was born.  I used to think, “What in the world do stay at home moms do all day?”  Now I think, “How in the world am I supposed to get everything done in a day!?” Anyways, we returned from our summer in the States on Sept. 23rd.  We were supposed to arrive the 15th, but due to an Air France pilot’s strike we were stranded in FL for an extra week.  I guess if you are stranded, at least it’s with family and friends in America. We arrived and finally got settled back into life here, just in time for Eid. Eid is one of Morocco’s biggest religious holidays.  It’s the Festival of the Sacrifice, where they celebrate how God provided a ram for Abraham so...

April 25, 2014 we welcomed our little man into the world.  Here’s how it went down: 4:00am – My water breaks, we are having this baby today!  I try to relax and hold off waking up Scott as long as possible (knowing we aren’t gonna be getting much sleep in the next couple days, err months…) 5:00am – Contractions are 5 min apart and getting more intense, so I tell Scott it’s time to get to the hospital.  He makes coffee and loads up the car with our hospital bags, and we take our last selfie pre-baby.   6:00am – We pick up our friend/translator/birth coach, Kari, to help during the delivery. 6:45am – Allman Brothers’ rambling man is playing in the car, I can’t talk when contractions are coming, and...

Surf Camp

Surf Camp

So last week was our annual surf camp with a local orphanage.  This year we partnered with the Peace Corps to host it and it was definitely a success!  Hopefully we will get to do another one again sometime later in the fall.  In addition to surfing lessons each day, we had a beach cleanup teaching the kiddos not to litter and taught a lesson about health and sanitation (say no to drugs, wash your hands before you eat, don’t eat or drink after somebody that’s sick, and wash your fruits and vegetables…you know the important stuff!).  And of course there was soccer, frisbee, capture the flag, and fun sports on the beach.  Then the last day we had a big celebratory party with a couscous lunch.  Here are some of the best pics from the...

Scott was working and traveling for about 18 days with two back to back tour groups.  It was busy and a lot of work, but let’s face it, Scott gets to surf everyday.  So that’s pretty awesome.  Anyways, we are so thankful for the business. He’s back now, and we are gearing up for the annual surf camp with a local orphanage (which is happening the week after next).  Other people are in charge this year, which is good since the surf camp is a week before my due date.  Now that Scott has had a couple days to recoup, I convinced him to take some maternity photos to document my huge belly.  I was hoping to have a couple more with Scott but it turns out to be quite difficult to set a photo up, put the timer on, and then run over and be in the...

Surf tours and pregnancy

So what’s up with this.  It’s March already!  Man, February decided to just fly by! In late January Scott took a friend and some of his buddies visiting from the States on a test-run tour before his first paying tour group came in mid Feb!  And boy was it a good thing he did, cause every possible thing went wrong on the test group.  Things were going well for the first couple days, but then someone decided to break into the car (breaking 2 windows in the process) and steal a wallet, a cell phone, and a one of the guy’s bags (which had his passport in it).  So at least Scott got to figure out all the kinks with the test group…like how to file a police report and how to get an emergency passport made!  (By the way, let me just say,...
